"Christmas isn't just a day, it's a frame of mind.” If you watch a lot of Christmas movies, then you might know that's a quote from a Miracle on 34th Street.
I think it's easy for us to feel generous, hopeful, and full of cheer this time of year when it's all around us through smiling Bell-ringers and nostalgic Christmas carols, lights, decorations and happy children. But Christmas isn't tied to opening presents, it should be tied to opening our hearts; To each other, and to Jesus.
It is a reminder to live, always, with peace, cheer, goodwill, and hope. It's recognizing that God sent his son to earth (His greatest act of love), so that Jesus could perform HIS greatest act of love - the greatest the world has ever known! - on the cross for us.
I hope we can carry Christmas with us far beyond December 25th.
