You're probably seeing a lot of Christmas trees in your social media feeds! Maybe Christmas is difficult for you .. . When the season is dark for you and your family, still hang your lights. Let a display of Christmas light highlight hope.
It is believed that Martin Luther, the 16th-century Protestant reformer, was the first to add lighted candles to a tree. Walking toward his home one winter evening, while composing a sermon, he was awed by the brilliance of stars twinkling amidst evergreens. So to recapture the scene for his family, he erected a tree in the main room and wired its branches with lighted candles.
He experienced something that he wanted to share with his own family. Twinkling lights against a dark backdrop.
See, I think we NEED the twinkling lights to be reminded that LIGHT shines in the darkness AND lights the way to hope, peace, and love.
So let your light shine this Christmas and all year. We need it!
