An Invitation to Families

I had the pleasure of attending Westboro’s first ever FUSE Festival this past weekend. This event was a great way for the community of Westboro Village to showcase what they offer in terms of stores, restaurants, and any other businesses.
Despite the drizzly weather, Richmond road was lined with sidewalk sales, carnival games, bouncy castles, street performers, and more... a true sense of community! (photos below)
We were there, walking the streets, to hand out some free SWAG and to connect with citizens.
One of my favourite moments from the weekend was connecting with a mom who was working the festival. We chatted about how difficult it could be to find inexpensive things to do with the family. It was a wonderful opportunity to invite her and her family out to the Ottawa Champion’s ‘Family Days’! We host our CHRI Kids Zone at the Sunday home games where we bring in things like a Circus Delights bouncy castle, Ry J’s rock climbing wall, Tyler Rourke Magic, and so much more. The best part about the CHRI Kids Zone is that once you get into the game, entry in the zone is free! This mom was thrilled about the invite and was excited to tell family friends as well.
It was such a great reminder that the CHRI Kids Zone is so much more than just a place for child occupation during the baseball games: It’s an opportunity for us to welcome people, and to connect.
