Do you think you could do it? Save $5050 in 100 days? Well, some are trying. A new trend on TikTok has people attempting to save money in the ‘100 envelope challenge’. Pancake Tuesday, also known as Shrove Tuesday falls on the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the 40-day Lenten season leading up to Easter.
The origin of the tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday is believed to come from a practice of using up rich ingredients such as eggs, sugar and butter, which were traditionally given up for Lent. In order to avoid wasting these ingredients, people would make pancakes to use up the ingredients before they begin their fast. Shrove Tuesday is also meaningful to Christians as it is a day of confession and absolution.
So as you celebrate and repare for the season of Lent, here are some ideas and recipes to inspire you on Pancake Tuesday.
