DETAILS: J&H Expedition is a local business offering interactive mining digs for all ages. Inside each dig is a mixture of stones, crystals, fossils, shark teeth and more all buried in sand. To start, you dump your dig into a bowl, and/or a container of your choice. You can use your hands, or any tools such as a spoon or gardening item to search through the sand. Once all the items are out you can rinse them off with a hose, a sink, or even in a kids water table and start learning about all the treasures. The items in each dig are from all over the world. Some are new and some are millions of years old. Learn about geography, time periods, sea life, dinosaurs, petrology, colours, shapes, textures and so much more. Katelyn VanRyswyk started this business because her son really enjoys exploring, doing new activities, and learning through hands on play. He is constantly finding rocks and sticks he loves. So she thought, why not put it all together and make something that not only keeps him entertained and busy, but that also offers the opportunity to learn while playing! J&H Expedition's mining digs are great to do outside in the summer months and offer something different from the everyday.
This business has allowed Katelyn to bring exploring and adventure right to everyone’s doorsteps. Many people are always looking for great ways to keep their kids busy. So combining her interest of stones, fossils and kids play, was an easy choice. There are four digs available: Enchanted, Dino, the OG and Sea & Ocean. So there is a theme for everyone! You can purchase them by going on J&H Expedition's Facebook or Instagram where you will find the Etsy link, or by messaging her directly on her social platforms. Katelyn offers $10 delivery in the Ottawa area.
