Transforming Our City Through Relational Unity

It's one thing to say we are One Church but it's another to have real relational unity. The recent CAPITALYZE Conference in Ottawa (hosted by Love Ottawa and One Way Ministries) gathered church, ministry, and marketplace leaders to inspire city-wide initiatives. Keynote speakers were flown in from all over the world (Mark Visvasam Nannan from India, Stephen & Roger Sutton from Teesside, UK, and Kevin Palau from Oregon) to deliver inspiring testimonies and practical takeaways on how we can work towards social, spiritual AND cultural change in our city.

Support Persecuted Christians

For almost 30 years, Open Doors has published the only instrument that measures the persecution of Christians, annually – the World Watch List (WWL). The WWL is a ranking of the 50 countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian. The 2019 WWL reports that North Korea and Afghanistan scored highest in the persecution of Christians, new laws in China and Vietnam seek to control all expression of religion and persecution of Christians in China is at an unprecedented high.

Combat the Winter Blues

The winter months can really get you down. If you are anything like me, the cold makes you want to just snuggle up with a blanket on the couch, eat junk food, and watch television. The issue with falling into that pattern is that it is tough to get out of and can contribute to depression. This is why depression is statistically at an all-time high during the months of February and March. Before we reach these two gloomy and cold months, start building your routine so you can combat the winter blues.

What’s your one word to filter life through this year?

This is something I’ve been doing for the past 2 years and it helps provide a lens to filter my decisions and to gauge my progress. To me, it’s not necessarily a matter of changing who I am, but of being intentional with my choices and not letting emotion, temptation and impulse get in the way of my personal growth.
