It comes out of the tree as a surprisingly thin sap, clear, almost like water.
The first time we took our kids to the Sugar Bush they walked down the trail emptying the buckets along the way and there were barely a few drops in each one yet it takes 40 L to make just 1 Litre of rich, sticky syrup!
And, the transformation doesn’t happen instantly— it takes time, heat, and a refining process to become something truly sweet and valuable.
It makes me think about how God has placed gifts inside of you—purpose, kindness, creativity, faith. But in the beginning, it might not feel like much. It might feel undeveloped, unnoticed, or even a little ordinary. But that doesn’t mean it’s not there.
Because just like that sap, what’s inside you is meant to be refined.
Through seasons of waiting, through challenges, through growth—God is gently shaping, strengthening, and concentrating what He’s placed in you. And over time, something rich and beautiful begins to pour out of your life.
So don’t rush the process. Just like what starts from a maple tree and becomes “liquid gold”, God is refining YOU too. And, to Him, who you are becoming is more precious than Gold.
