iPad & Poverty

Apple is selling 1 iPad every 3 seconds.  This is the same rate as children dying from poverty around the world.  What's wrong with this picture?

I have an iPhone and I admit it, I love it and it really does make my life a lot easier. However after hearing this I can't help but think where are we putting our value? Would we truly give our commodities up if God asked us to? How loudly would He have to speak in order for us to hear Him and listen?

I ponder: Amongst everything we can buy how is God challenging us to stand out and be different? I'm talking about going beyond just being good stewards of our money to being radical, sacrificial stewards of our money. What does this look like and is this something God asks of us?

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16
