Do you have an internal monologue? Did you know not everyone has one? It’s a phenomenon called Anaduralia. A topic that has come up a lot recently is our inner voice and self-talk. Having an inner voice is not typically a cause for concern unless it is often self-critical. So to keep negative self-talk out, turn off the news, step away from social media, and surround yourself with people who will speak life and encouragement to you. When you put good stuff in, your inner voice is good too!
Positive affirmations are also very important in building a child’s self-esteem. By choosing to compliment your kids for things that are specific and unique to them, you will let them know you really see them and value them for who they are.
And the key is, repetition is best! Even if you kid notices you’re repeating it, think about it... If you’re kid hears you repeat to them over and over again “Kiddo, you’re gonna change the world.”, they’ll start to believe it!
Here are 20 Affirmations you can speak to your child to build their self-esteem (psst... you can speak these to yourself too!)
