7 Days of Prayer for Trusting in God

During a season of uncertainty, we require a lot of trust in God and faith in His plan. Take 7 days to pray and help grow your trust in God during this time of unknown.

DAY 1 – SURRENDERING OUR ANXIETIES

Luke 12:25-26: And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?

Sovereign God, I confess that my life, which used to seem secure and much more certain until recently, feels fragile and vulnerable today. And yet my worries are foolish; they are wasted time and do nothing to change the situation or glorify You. They only rob me of the rest that comes from trusting in You, Father. So, I acknowledge my helplessness in this situation, and instead of trusting in myself, I am coming to You in faith. You know all the hairs on my head and all the days of my life, so I will trust You my faithful Father with my life and all of my other concerns. In Jesus’ strong name, I pray. Amen.

DAY 2 – TRUSTING THE GOD WHO IS NEAR

Isaiah 41:10: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Powerful God, You repeatedly command Your people not to fear, and You always present Yourself as the antidote and solution to fear. When bad news comes my heart can grow weak with fear. Please help me to know Your strength and rest of Your presence, no matter the hardship that comes. You are not a God who is far away. Your nearness was demonstrated when You sent Jesus to earth, and You continue to be present with me today through Your Holy Spirit who is in me. Unlike the rest of the world that trembles at the sound of bad news, let me be a witness as my heart trusts in the God who is with me. In the name of Jesus, our Emmanuel, I pray. Amen.

DAY 3 - PRESSING INTO GOD’S ALL SUFFICIENT GRACE

2 Corinthians 12:9-10: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Father of new every morning mercies, Your grace flows from Your endless supply. O Fountain of Grace, we confess our weakness, and declare You are the God all-knowing, and all-powerful. Lord, the coronavirus reminds us that our strength, wisdom and understanding is inadequate, but Your strength, wisdom and understanding is always more than enough for us. Before I ask, the supply of heaven has preceded my cry, pouring out supplies beyond my imagination. When we fixate on our problems and doubt Your mercy, please make the cross of Jesus clearer to us. We do believe Lord; help our unbelief. We do trust Lord, but Oh for grace to trust You more. In Jesus’ all-powerful name, we pray. Amen.

DAY 4 – RESTING IN GOD’S PRESENCE

Deuteronomy 31:8: It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

God, our very present help in trouble, we seek peace in the pandemic. We seek faith over fear. We seek calm in the chaos. Above all, we seek You. Our strength is in You. You are in us and know everything that we are facing now. You know what’s ahead. Your presence and guidance can be fully trusted. We are safe in Your care. Therefore, we will not fear. Through Him who loves us, we pray. Amen.

DAY 5 – THIRSTING FOR THE LIVING GOD

Psalm 63:1-2: O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.

Lord, when all around us is shaking, when people thirst for certainty and faint for fear, we will not be shaken! We will not be afraid. You are our God and You are with us. Nothing can stand against Your purposes. While we seek an end to this crisis, seek help for those on the front lines and seek healing for those battling with this virus, more than anything we seek You. Our deepest needs are met by You. Our hope for security is in You. So, once again we set our eyes and hearts on Your power and glory. You do all things well and we trust in You. In Your triumphant name, we pray. Amen.

DAY 6 – SEEKING GOD’S STRENGTHENING AND SAVING

1 Peter 5:10: And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Luke 19:10: For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Father in heaven, we know that through this pandemic You are doing great things in us, and around us. Would You deepen our faith? Would You teach us to number our days and strengthen our resolve to live for what matters? For the dying world we ask You to turn countless hearts and lives to You. Great Redeemer put us to work. Use us as Your ambassadors of hope. As You shake the foundations and strip away the distractions, seek the lost and bring in the broken. Lord, as in days of old, add to Your Church those who are being saved. We trust You for all of this. In the strong name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

DAY 7 – PRAISING OUR TRUSTWORTHY GOD

Psalm 28:7: The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.

God, our strength and shield, You have power over every storm. You are on Your throne and we rejoice in You. In the midst of so much uncertainty across our world, our faith in Christ anchors us. We will trust the One who died and defeated death by His resurrection. In dark storms, we have bright hope. Our future is secure in Christ who loves us. So, with thankfulness we sing our songs of praise, declaring our joy and our hope found in Christ alone! In the name of the Risen Son, we pray. Amen!
