Are you getting excited about unity among Christian churches? I was pleasantly surprised to experience another example of unity this past Saturday, January 17 at the Richelieu-Vanier Community Centre when I dropped in on "Joyful Noise".
This was a worship and prayer event involving seven churches from the Ottawa-Gatineau area, of Spanish, French and African cultures. Three church choirs led worship in different languages - French, English, & Spanish. The Guest speaker was Asael Argueta, a young evangelist from Montreal, who has preached across Canada, the United States and in Central America. His message was one of the need for devotion to God in order to bring God back into the world's secular culture. And, in the same vein this morning there was an email in my inbox with a reference to St. Francis of Assisi's insistance that true devotion must touch every area of our life, that true devotion is not just a matter of spiritual practices but of bringing all our life under the lordship of Christ. An interesting "coincidence".
Saturday evening concluded with prayer for the Ottawa-Gatineau region and a time of worship and devotion. Overall it was a spirit-filled evening with energetic worship music and several pastors and families from the region in attendance. I'm definitely getting excited about what is happening in the region to bring about unity within the Body of Christ and can't wait to see what God does next.
