Defibrillators Save Lives

courtney barresiCourtney reached out to us to share her mission to raise awareness about the importance of a defibrillator. On September 22, 2016 Courtney's father, age 50, passed away suddenly at his favorite camp ground from a heart attack. Due to the remote location the ambulance couldn't reach him for 45 minutes.

She and her family started "Defibrillators Save Lives" with a goal of placing a defibrillator at the camp site where her father passed away. The support they received was beyond what they expected and now have a goal to place defibrillators in any estibalishment in need of an AED.

The campaign's fundraising model is quite simple, all your community needs to do is reach out to Courtney (reach her at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and they do all the work. They set up a fundraising event which is usually a pasta dinner (her father’s favorite) or a BBQ. All the money needed to make the fundraiser plausible comes from their organization and 100% of the proceeds from the event goes towards your defibrillator.

Courtney has partnered with HeartZap who provide the newest model of the Zoll Defibrillator. The AED is extremely easy to use and a demonstration is possible at each event so the community can see how easy it is to operate.

If your church or community is in need and cannot afford a Defibrillator, please reach out to "Defibrillators Save Lives" so they can help! You can reach Courtney at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The next fundraiser will be held at the North Gower United Church on June 16, 2017 at 5:30 pm. All are welcome to join and learn more about "Defibrillators Save Lives".

Prayer Points from Courtney:
- We are able to reach out to the communities who are in need so that they can receive their defibrillator in time.
- We raise enough money in each community we visit.
- Someday everyone person who suffers a heart attack will have access to a defibrillator within 10 minutes.
