You could tell there was much planning and preparation that went into this event from the number of volunteers everywhere. Parking attendants directed you with a big smile, someone else opened the front door and tables filled the room manned by other cheerful (and knowledgeable) volunteers! I was asked to MC this event and had the opportunity to mingle with shoppers and volunteers, meeting some really great people AND do my Christmas shopping along the way! They had jewelry and crafts, knitted items, homemade preserves, books and Christmas decorations just to name a few. I thought the Kids Zone shopping area was truly special. This is where children could shop for their loved ones, have the gifts wrapped, all ready for Christmas for under $2 per item. You should have seen the smiles on the kids faces when they were done! Throughout the morning you could smell the wonderful fragrance coming from the Seje Café where baking was coming out of the oven, muffins and other delights....then for lunch you could purchase chilli or quiche which was served to you at your table in the café, which by the way, had a backdrop of Africa. While in the café I met two young boys dining at a table. Nathan (the eldest brother) described how much he was enjoying the very chocolate brownie (which was on more than the fork) and how he had treated his younger brother to the same treat. How special is that! Congratulations to everyone at Community Bible Church for a truly successful event which, I believe, helped inspire everyone who attended and maybe brought Africa a little closer to home. Looking forward to next year! To learn more about the Seje project visit cbcstittsville.com/home/sejeproject
