Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. It's a day of repentance. A day for deep cleaning our souls. Like spring cleaning or getting your teeth cleaned. We also need to have a spiritual deep clean every once in a while.

Martin Luther use to spend up to six hours in confession. When I heard this I realized I don't know the first thing about confession. How long do you spend in confession? Pastor Mark Batterson of National Community Church, says "I think shallow confessions result in a shallow appreciation of God's grace."

Spending more time in confession allows God to dig into deeper parts of our souls. Parts we hide away, parts we don't even know are. He expose all the dirt & grime that is stuck behind  the fridge, where we think know one sees.

No matter if you're taking part in Lent this year or not why not use this season to deep clean?
